Why Therapists Refer Their Clients to Reiki

One question I've been asked several times is:

"Why did my therapist recommend Reiki?"

It's a great question.

Why?

Because therapists understand something important:

Insight and healing are not always the same thing.

Sometimes We Understand What's Wrong, But Still Feel Stuck

  • Reconnect with themselves

Think of therapy and Reiki as different tools in the same wellness toolbox.

One isn't better than the other.

They simply support healing in different ways.

What I've Observed in Reiki Sessions

When I first began practicing Reiki, I expected people to relax.

What surprised me was how often people released emotions they didn't realize they were carrying.

I've witnessed tears, laughter, deep breaths, moments of clarity, and profound relief.

I've watched people arrive feeling overwhelmed and leave feeling lighter.

Not because Reiki "fixed" them.

But because they finally gave themselves space to slow down, feel, and receive support.

Sometimes that's exactly what the body has been asking for.

The most effective healing journeys often include multiple forms of support.

Therapy can help us understand our experiences.

Reiki can help us reconnect with ourselves.
